In Loving Memory of Ante Thomas Jr.
November 27, 1949 – April 16, 2025
Ante Thomas Jr. was born on November 27, 1949, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, to the late Ante Thomas Sr. and Willie Mae Thomas.
Education
Ante graduated from Edisto High School in South Carolina. He furthered his education by attending Cope Career Center for two years before relocating to Florida, where he lived with his late uncle and aunt, Jasper and Grace Thomas.
Career
Ante dedicated more than twenty years of his life to the construction industry. He worked his way up to the position of pipe foreman at Amick Construction Company. After retiring from Amick, he continued his strong work ethic at JCB, where he worked for approximately ten years. Following this, Ante fulfilled his entrepreneurial dream by opening his own business.
Personal Life
Ante loved his family deeply and had a strong faith in the Lord. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. On April 16, 2025, God called his faithful servant home.
Family
On May 30, 1998, Ante married the love of his life, Joyce Glover Thomas. They shared 26 wonderful years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Francis Darby and Freddy Thomas; mother-in-law, Sarah Glover; sister-in-law, Nora Glover McGee; and brothers-in-law, Martin Glover and Eddie Ray Glover.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his beloved wife, Joyce Thomas of Weirsdale, FL; his children: Rondell Thomas (Carla) of St. Petersburg, FL; Antwon Thomas of Orlando, FL; Aaron Thomas (Lenzye) and Jamal Thomas of Chicago, IL; Jessica Cannon (Williams) of Weirsdale, FL; and Sarah Jones (Jeremy) of Ocala, FL.
He is also survived by his brothers, Edward Thomas (Bonnie) and Johnny Thomas, both of Orangeburg, SC; and sisters, Claydean Thomas, Floral Tyler, and Virginia Keller, all of Orangeburg, SC.
Ante was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren: Rondell II, Skyler, Jacori, Trinity, Pierce, Mackinley, Jeremy, Angelise, Aaron Jr., and Camden.
He is also survived by brothers-in-law: James Glover (Tara) of Ocala, FL and Lamar Glover (Tamar) of Weirsdale, FL; and sisters-in-law: Josephine Dowdy of Allen, TX; Annie Bothwell, Evelyn Glover-Brown, Claudette Glover (Victor) of Ocala, FL; and Wanda Glover of Weirsdale, FL; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and sorrowing friends.
Ante Thomas Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering faith, hard work, and the love he poured into his family and community. His legacy will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
