He was born in Eustis, Florida, to Mattie Malette and Booker T. Griffin. He was married on August 1, 1965, to Bettye Harris Griffin. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: wife, Bettye Griffin; children, Johnny L. Scott, Jr., Sherry P. Harris, Karen E. Griffin (Frank), and Simon R. Williams (Jammy), all of Eustis, FL, Terry M. Harris (RayShawn) of California, Leonard B. Griffin (Dorothy) of Tavares, FL, Wynderlon J. Blunt (Clifford) of Fruitland Park, FL; sisters, Mary Mount (the late John) of Sanford, FL, Kathlene Williams of Eustis, FL, and Peggy Varner of Sanford, FL; brothers, Larry Riley of New York, and Clarence Griffin (Patricia) of Eustis, FL; godchild, Charlean Wilson White (Maurice) of Eustis, FL; special friend, Marvin Monroe (Linda) of Eustis, FL; 31 grands; 46 great-grands; two great-great-grands; and a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Levi Harris; granddaughter, Terrina Harris; and grandson, Brandon Scott, Sr.
