Ernest Leroy Woods, Jr. was born in Anthony, Florida, on December 29, 1942. He received a formal education in Marion County, Florida., and graduated from Fessenden High School, Martin, Florida in 1960. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy and served our country for over twenty years before retiring. During his service he had the opportunity to travel
around the world several times. After retiring from the military, he works at Emergency One for several years and later moved to Jacksonville, Florida. He returned home to Anthony, Florida in 2020.
Brother Ernest Woods joined Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church Anthony, Florida at an early age.
He leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, MiJoi Mitchell, seven sisters: Martha Morris, Willie Mae Leverette (Robert), Ola Pearl Brown (Rogers), Ora Lee Shelton, Yvette K. Davis (Charles), Jannie Sweeting (Roland), and Penny Woods; four brothers: Arthur McCoy, Levern White, Willie Woods (Earthaleen), and Frederick Woods; two aunts: Joanne Cooper and Elizabeth Simmons; devoted cousins, Nellie M. Jones (Lynn) and Beatrice Watson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Brother Woods was preceded in death by his parents; Sylvester and Kate White, Leroy and Pensie Woods; Brother, Carl White; Sisters, Sylvia White, Rosa Gordon and Joann Graham.
