Ja’Ru Mulkey was born on March 18, 2001, to Phylliss Mulkey and the late James Stokes. Ja’Ru was blessed to have two extra mothers in his life, Willie Jean Mulkey and Tyra Linderman, who loved him like they gave birth to him. Ja’Ru gave his life to Jesus Christ at an early age. He was molded at Church of Christ by Pierre Suggs and IIray Connor. Ja’ went on to graduate from Vanguard High School. Ja’Ru was employed by FedEx and then Phoenix House until his untimely passing.
Ja’Ru leaves to cherish his precious memories: his mothers, Phylliss Mulkey, Willie Jean Mulkey, and Tyra Linderman; siblings, Dexter Anderson (Meshia), Latricia Howell, Brandy Howell (Garfield), Sherimeka James (Lenard), Alegra James, Phillip Mulkey, Aliya James (Mesha), Zyterik’A Long, Marsalis Beckham, Luther Daymon, Jr.,Lucille Daymon (Tarvis), Ja’Maury Reed, and Destiny Bryant; special sister, Krystal Suggs; aunts, Valerie Whitfield (Eric) and Gladys McCray; and uncles; Lionel Mulkey, Nathaniel Mulkey, Nathaniel Mulkey, Jr., Calvin McCray, and Kalvin Duncan. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Ja’Ru was preceded in death by his grandmother, Argie Mulkey; grandfather, Nathaniel Mulkey; and brothers, Ronnie Mulkey, Russell Tolbert, and Ronnie Lee James, Jr. “PNut”.
