Obituary

On December 14, 2021, Jonnie Rogers Scriven stepped across the threshold that we call death, but it was only a step into a brand new home.

Mr. Jonnie Rogers Scriven, affectionately know as Johnny B, was born on February 15, 1956 in Ocala, Florida to the late Willie Scriven and Sarah L. Bright.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Scriven and sisters, Edna Scriven and Willie Mae Powell.

Jonnie grew up in Ocala, Florida where he attended the Public Schools of Marion County. He was a graduate of the Forest High School Class of 1974. After graduating from high school he enlisted with United States Army. In 1971 at the tender age of 21 Jonnie became the 2nd African American to become a Florida Highway State Trooper. Jonnie also furthered his education and earned an Associates degree in Psychology.

In his past time Jonnie loved to fish, play chess, watch westerns, and ride the highways while listening to 2Pac. He was a social butterfly and you could always count on him to give you a good laugh.

Those who cherish his loving memories are: Stepfather, Wilbur Bright Sr., Ocala, FL; children, Bernard Latimore, Jonathan M. Scriven, Trevita (Eric) Jones, Johnetta Scriven, Tamara Clark, Johnnie (Jasmine) Mack, Matthew Scriven; Brothers, Paul (Salisa) Scriven, Larry K.
