Joseph James Juarez Cole’s , born July 2nd, 1991, was tragically taken from us too soon on May 22nd, 2024, the victim of a senseless act of rage and hate. Joey, as he was affectionately known, was a beacon of light and love in our lives, a beautiful and happy soul who brought joy to everyone he encountered. More importantly, he was a God-fearing man who made sure his kids knew God as well.
Joey was a devoted father above all else, cherishing his four children, Isabella Cole’s , Ethan Cole’s , Junior Coles, and stepdaughter Aliyah Speed, more than life itself. His love for his children knew no bounds; they were his world, his reason for existing. He was the epitome of a stand-up father, their hero, who lived to see his children happy.
Born in Deland Florida and raised in PA/ Fl. Joey came from a large and loving family, where his mother, Gussie R. Cole, his father, Jesus Artacho, and stepdad, Christopher Carter, instilled in him the values of love, family, and compassion. Joseph came from a huge loving family. Joey had three siblings: brother Chris Carter Jr., brother Dayquan Carter, and his baby sister Niaha Carter, who he loved so much and protected. He would always talk about them to his kids and everybody he knew in Florida. He loved talking about how much fun he’d have when visiting and cherished those moments. Joey loved all three of his parents and siblings unconditionally. He respected and honored them, looking up to his mom, Gussie, and dad, Jesus, considering them his best friends, just as he did his children. More importantly, he strived to make them proud of him.
Moving to Florida, Joey found his second home, drawn by the love he had for his children. His main focus was being an incredible father, guiding his children through life's ups and downs, from their first steps to their biggest achievements. He dreamed of starting his own contractor business, aspiring to provide a better future for his family and loved ones.
Joey's heart was as big as his smile, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He embodied love, light, and peace, bringing people together with his infectious spirit and genuine kindness. Joey had a knack for making even the worst days feel like the best, spreading joy wherever he went.
He was a beloved figure in his community, known for his generosity and selflessness. Joey's compassion knew no bounds; he would give the shirt off his back and starve to feed another. His love for children extended beyond his own, as he embraced and cared for all kids as if they were his own, including his godchildren, nieces, and nephews, from both his New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida families. He had a special bond with each of them, serving as a mentor, protector, and source of endless laughter and love.
Joey was a loving, caring son, father, sibling, and uncle. He adored being around family and bringing people together. He had a goofy, down-to-earth personality and cherished spending time outdoors, especially fishing and playing pool. Like his mom and family in New Jersey, he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.
Joey's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he was taken from us far too soon, his spirit will continue to inspire us to love unconditionally and live each day to the fullest.
We would like to thank God for blessing us with Joey and for the love and light he brought into our lives. Until we meet again, rest in peace, our beloved son, brother, father, uncle, godfather, and friend. We love you always.
