Major Norman, Jr. Obituary

Major Leonard Norman Jr. was the sixth of seven children born to the union of the late Major Leonard Norman Sr. and Nancilla Vivian Brown Norman.

Major was educated in the Marion County Public School System. He graduated from North Marion High School in the year of 1986, where he excelled in several activities and sports and was the starting quarterback for his high school team, as well as a fierce point guard on the basketball team.

Immediately following high school, he headed to Orlando, Florida, to participate in basic training for the United States Navy. He was employed with various jobs in Ocala, Florida, as an auto mechanic, heavy equipment operator, sales rep, and Lawn Maintenance business, which he owned and operated until he was declared medically disabled with end-stage renal failure.  Upon retirement, he served as a basketball official, an auto mechanic, and a landscaper.

He was a very intelligent man who looked forward to a challenge.  There was no car problem he could not figure out and repair.  He could build anything with his hands; just give him a hammer and nails.

In his past time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and fellowshipping at the local barber shop. But his greatest enjoyment was fishing.

On March 24, 2006, he married the love of his life, Tiffany Porter, and they were married for 20 blissful years. In fact, he transitioned on his 20th wedding anniversary.  He did not want his wife to awaken that morning as a widow and hung on until 5:20 pm to make certain he lived to honor their 20th wedding anniversary.

He leaves to mourn his devoted wife Tiffany Norman, Ocala, Florida; Five children: Paul Norman, Ocala, Florida, Jazmyne Norman, Ocala, Florida, Demontrae Jenkins,  Seaford, Delaware, Major Norman III, Ocala, FL, Zion Norman, Ocala, Florida; Four siblings: Wanda Bennett, Ocala, Florida; Francenia Crawford(Sammy), Jacksonville, Florida; Isaiah Norman, Ocala, Florida; Vanessa Robinson, Ocala, Florida. 20 grandchildren and host of sorrowing nieces and nephews.  Special friends: Warren Hope, Dozie Green, Henry Gaskin, Frank Lawson, Herman Jones, Willie Arthur.
