Rev. James Houston was born in Live, Oak, Florida November 28, 1925 and entered the arms of his Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 2 2022, ironically the same day of his daughter’s birthday, Iris J. Houston McKinney, who passed away in 1996. He lived until blessed age of 96 years old and transitioned while surrounded by the love, care, support and prayers of loving family in Ocala, FL. He was also WW II Veteran, Certified Dental Technician, Lab Tech and Foster Care Parent. But most of all, he was a child of God, a relentless proclaimer and expositor of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A committed pastoral leader, he previously served as pastor, teacher, preacher, missionary & evangelist Pennsylvania and Florida. He presence will be sorely missed, but we take comfort in knowing that although he is absent from the body, he is definitely present with the Lord.
Rev. James Houston joins his wife Alma (Hodges) Houston in glory. He is survived by his children Aurelia Baughn Brewer (Rod) and James R. Baughn, Sr. (deceased) Wendell “JD” Houston, Iris Houston McKinney (deceased) and Dr. Jametoria Houston Burton (John). He leaves behind three adopted Howard and James JJ Houston, and Wendell (Dyous) Houston (deceased). His beloved grandchildren are Dwayne (Lydia) Baughn, James Baughn, Jr., Rhonda Baughn, and Joya Burton (daughter of John and Jametoria); Great grandchildren include Talayah Daniels (daughter of James Baughn, Jr.) and Marjani Baughn (daughter of Dwayne and Lydia), special niece and grand-nephew Loria and Kevin Wallace, Mildred Baughn, Regina Baughn and host of other cousins, nieces, and nephews across from Pennsylvania to Florida.
