Ms. Shirley J. Raines was born on July 14, 1942, to the late Nehemiah and Minnie Taylor Johnson. A life-long resident of Marion County, she dedicated many years of her life to service and education, working faithfully within the Marion County public school system. In her later years, she continued her commitment to excellence until retiring from Seamless.
Her educational journey began at Jacob Wells and Fessenden, later continuing through the Marion County Public Schools. Spiritually grounded and community-oriented, she was a devoted member of Debose Chapel United Methodist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving daughter, Sabrina Martin; grandchildren, Sharonika (Howard) Cochran, Katisha Martin, and Sanchez Graham; step-granddaughter, Lydia Martin; granddaughter-in-love, Nakesha (Xavier) Robinson; and step-grandson, Alphonso McCleff; greatgrandchildren through whom her legacy also lives on, Tyniqua T homas, Odessi Cochran, Shamarion Cochran, Terriyhana Young, TyKeria Young, Kemontre Martin, Jamarcus Turner, Javarr Graham, Saniyah Graham, Brylin Graham, Josiah Graham, Jabonte Durden, Lillian Martin, and Keyhana Martin; loving brothers, Dewey Johnson, Edward Johnson, and Phillip Johnson; special nieces, Lanita Thaggard and Chequita Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear family and friends who will miss her deeply. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts
