Willie Charles Suddieth was born on January 29, 1946, in Ocala, Florida to Julia Mae Croskey-Johnson and Willie Suddieth. He was the eldest child of his mother. He left this world on May 6, 2025. Willie was educated in the Marion County Public School System. He was a graduate of Belleview Santos High School Class of 1964. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and also was a merchant Seaman. After returning home from the military, he enrolled at Hampton Junior College and later went to University of West Florida where he graduated in 1976. Willie taught at Oakcrest Elementary School for many years. He was a great teacher that cared about his students and they cared about him. He retired after over twenty years. He was a member of marion education association teacher’s union, florida association teacher’s union, and national education association teacher’s union. He was also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Willie was a member of Little Chapel Community Church of Santos for many years, where he was a former lay speaker and a member of the Valean Croskey Singers. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Julia Mae Croskey-Johnson and Willie Suddieth; brothers, George R. Miller-Croskey, Ernest L. Ward, and Emerson H. Johnson; and sister, Mattie L. James.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Shana Mitchell; son, Felton Denham; goddaughter, Valeria (Lashun) Neal (Ernest); brothers, Eugene Ward and Aaron Simmons; sisters, Sandra Reagan and Linda Mobley; brothers-in-law, Fred Mobley and Jerry James; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildrenl and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and sorrowing friends.
